 h
DESCRIPTION:\n\nEnglish version below.\n\nChers et chères collègues\,\nAp
on stochastique.
ale.\n\n____\n\n\nDear colleagues\,\nAfter three wonderful years at the IA
S\, I have the great pleasure to invite you to my thesis defence\, which w
ill take place on Tuesday\, 13 October at 1 p.m. in room 123. It will also
be broadcast live on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6XxOAYmVGk
\nI conducted my thesis in the Cosmology team under the supervision of Jul
ien Grain. I will present my work in English in front of a jury composed o
 f Nabila Aghanim\, Yuko Urakawa\, David Mulryne\, Karim Noui\, Lucas Santo
ni and Elisa Ferreira..\nTo conclude the afternoon\, you are warmly invite
d to a drinks reception in the hall!\nLooking forward to seeing you there\
,\nHugo\nTitle and abstract:\nMultifield inflation : separate universe app
roach and Hamiltonian treatment\nThis thesis aims at further developing th
e stochastic inflation formalism. We develop tools on the one hand to adap
t this formalism to multifield models of inflation and on the other hand t
o allow non linear evolution at the level of the noise.\nIn an introductor
y part\, we present the fundamentals of cosmology and inflationary dynamic
 s. We also go beyond the usual simplistic descriptions and present a Hamil
tonian description of multifield scenarios\, as well as an introduction to
the Stochastic inflation and stochastic δN paradigms. The stochastic inf
lation formalism is an effective theory at large scales of cosmological pe
rturbations\, and aims at capturing non linear evolution of the large scal
e modes in a non perturbative framework. This paradigm relies on the one h
and on the separate universe approach\, where the universe is described as
a collection of independent FLRW patches\, and on the other hand on the q
uantum to classical transition of primordial fluctuations. In its most com
mon development\, the noise terms that are introduced evolve linearly\, an
d only a single scalar field is considered\, two conditions we wish to rel
ax.\nWe present three articles that were written during this PhD. First we
present the conditions one needs to verify in order to use the separate u
niverse approach in non-linear sigma models\, and we find that the mass ra
dii of all fields play the same role as the Hubble radius in the coarse gr
aining procedures. We also study how to execute gauge fixing procedures in
the separate universe approach. We then extend this study to multifield s
cenarios with non minimal couplings between the matter fields and the grav
itational field\, and find that the conditions do not match one-to-one bet
ween the Einstein and Jordan frames. These two projects aimed at adapting
the stochastic formalism for multifield inflation models. Finally\, we ext
end the Hamiltonian description of multifield inflation beyond the leading
order\, and build variables that are gauge invariant at large scales at t
he second order in perturbation theory. We on the one hand build explicitl
y these variables\, and on the other hand prove their existence in the gen
eral case\, as well as the existence of their conjugate momenta. This thir
d order Hamiltonian can now be used in order to take into account non line
arities in the noise term evolution of stochastic inflation\, thus pushing
the study of non linear physics in primordial cosmology.\n\n\n
