SUMMARY:The Impact of Core-Collapse Supernovae on Gravitational-Wave Astrop
 hysics
DESCRIPTION: Jade Powell (Swinburne University of Technology)\n\nAbstract
:\n\nCore-collapse supernovae (CCSNe) mark the violent deaths of massive s
tars and are among the most energetic explosions in the Universe. These ca
tastrophic events are responsible for the formation of the neutron stars a
nd black holes observed through gravitational waves. CCSNe also directly e
mit gravitational waves\, and are key targets for gravitational-wave detec
tion\, offering a unique window into the central mechanism that powers the
se explosions. This talk will discuss the latest developments in CCSN nume
rical simulations\, including the impact on the birth properties of black
holes and neutron stars observed through gravitational waves\, the latest
CCSN gravitational waveform models\, and the potential for current and nex
t-generation gravitational-wave detectors to extract astrophysical and nuc
lear physics insights from these events.\n\nLieu : Bât. 200/0-Auditorium
